Leopard and Robertson & Caine: a world-renowned alliance in the construction of sailing and motor catamarans

Leopard was founded in 1991 by John Robertson and Jerry Caine, Robertson & Caine Ltd. The company began by building custom sailboats. Their creations initially ranged from 36 to 70 feet, from fiberglass monohulls to high-end carbon fiber racing boats.

Over the years, the Leopard shipyard has established its reputation.

Each Leopard boat is carefully designed and built in Cape Town, South Africa, by the prestigious Robertson & Caine shipyard. The collaboration between the two companies began in 1995, when the South African shipyard built the first five Leopard 45s for The Moorings. Such was its success that, in less than four years, more than a hundred units were ordered, solidifying an exclusive partnership.

In 2002, Leopard Catamarans decided to extend its range, offering cruising models not only under sail, but also under power. The brand is now available to private customers.

Since Leopard was established, over 2000 catamarans have been built, testifying to the success of this fruitful collaboration between Leopard and Robertson & Caine.

Robertson & Caine is the undisputed leader in catamaran sales in the USA. Also. Their creations have been awarded the prestigious “Boat of the Year” title several times. Their current production rate is impressive, building 4 boats a week.

In addition, the collaboration with the prestigious architectural firm Simonis & Voogd allows Leopard Catamarans’ vision of innovation to be showcased in an exceptional way, thanks to the firm’s unrivalled expertise.

Today, Leopard is recognized as the world’s second largest catamaran builder and the leader in motor catamarans.
