The birth and vision of the Belliure shipyard
Vicente Belliure is the visionary behind the Belliure shipyard. The story takes root with the construction of his first sailboat for personal use in 1953. It was the Endurance 35, presented at the 13th Barcelona Boat Show. Working with Peter Ibold, Vicente Belliure went on to design several other models. Thanks to a constant quest for perfection and the adoption of cutting-edge techniques, the brand’s reputation and prestige grew considerably.
By 1974, BELLIURE had already sold two hundred and fifty-six boats, including fishing boats over 30 meters long and weighing over 300 tons.
Over the next decade, the Calpe shipyard built a further 180 boats. At that time, production was mainly focused on boats between 30 and 35 feet long. However, from 1984 onwards, the yard shifted its main focus to the construction of 40′, 41′ and 50′-foot units.
Worldwide expansion and the excellence of Belliure yachts
In 1975, two-thirds of the boats produced by BELLIURE were destined for the Spanish market. During the 1980s, this proportion was reversed, with two out of three boats destined for other European countries. In 1985, BELLIURE took a significant step forward by receiving orders from the United States, representing 20% of its total production and marking its entry into the North American market.
Between 1980 and 1986, Vicente Belliure undertook ambitious projects. In collaboration with renowned New Zealand designer Ron Holland, they aimed to produce large, unique transoceanic yachts, known as “one offs”. Thus were born the majestic BELLIURE 63, 83 and 86, craft whose size at the time could only be realized by five shipyards worldwide. These magnificent boats were exhibited at the most prestigious boat shows in the USA and Europe, attesting to their international renown.
An evolution towards speed and excellence, followed by a new era of innovation
In 1999, BELLIURE embarked on a new phase focused on speed, marking a significant evolution. This new direction took shape with the launch of the B48. This is a boat capable of sailing with confidence even in difficult sea conditions, which arouses great interest among shipowners. Building on its initial success, the B48 was subsequently lengthened to 52 feet, offering a larger aft cockpit and even greater comfort. This first model was followed by others. These were the B40, B44, B46, and the sublime motoryacht B60. All these models embody the characteristic excellence of the BELLIURE brand.
In 2012, BELLIURE continues its journey of innovation with the proud launch of the all-new BELLIURE Endurance B50. This 50-foot yacht embodies the spirit of superyachts, combining classic lines with a resolutely modern aesthetic. The success of motor yachts remains undeniable. Unique “one-off” projects, as well as renovations and restorations of boats from 60 to 90 feet, are also growing in popularity.
Belliure relies on an exceptional team of professionals, engineers, technicians and craftsmen from all over the world to build its vessels.
