How the idea of the first Sealine boat was born

The British shipyard Sealine was founded in 1972 in England by Tom Murrant, an aeronautical engineer.

It all started when Tom Murrant was looking for a family yacht, but couldn’t find exactly what he wanted on the market. It was at this point that Tom Murrant reacted like a true visionary and revolutionary. In other words, he decided to build the yacht of his dreams himself.

With the help of his friends Frank Fish and Ray Walker, they built a 23-foot pleasure yacht in a shack at the airport. Then they saw that their creation had the potential to succeed in the marketplace.

And it is at this moment that Tom Murrant decides to create the company Fibrasonic marine ltd. As a result, the yard launched the first yachtweekender C-LINE. This 22 feet pleasure yacht quickly became a great success. In addition, the boat had a characteristic color band, which the buyer could choose in blue, yellow or orange.

The evolution of yachts – from C-Line to Sealine

In the 1980s, Tom Murrant set a new goal. One of them was to build luxury yachts with an international reputation. As a result, his models increased in length. Thus, they become more luxurious and cover all styles.

To reflect this new versatility, the name C-LINE (where the “c” stood for “cruiser” and “cabin”) was changed to SEALINE, with diplomatically inspired designations to emphasize the yachts’ prestige. The first model was called “Ambassador“. At that time, the shipyard launched the Sealine 30 – the first Flybridge cruising yacht – the prestigious Sealine 305.

Sealine in the 2000s: Expansion of the model range and technological innovation

In 2004, SEALINE, with new owners at the helm, began to produce 60-foot yachts. The T60 remains the largest model ever built by SEALINE.

After 40 years of existence, HanseYachts AG has acquired the SEALINE brand and all its models. As a result, the new Flybridge Sealine F380 was born.

Then the Sport Serie was launched and so was the new Sealine S330, the first ever German-British collaboration between Bill Dixon and the Greifswald shipyard. Then, the shipyard launches novelties like the Sealine C330 and the flybridge Sealine F530.
