Notes

The California 32 is a beautiful classic wooden sloop sailboat, measuring 14 meters long and 3.30 meters wide. It was built in May 1937 by Fellows and Stewart, to the designs of naval architect Nicholas Potter, also known as the "Herreshoff of the West". The boat is equipped with a 37 kw Perkings engine.

The California 32 is renowned for being a formidable racer and a comfortable cruiser, designed for boating on the Pacific coast. Eight of these sloops were built between the 1930s and the 60s, and they were often featured in the nautical press on the west coast of the United States.

The main characteristics of this sailboat are its overall elegance, the finesse of its lines, as well as the authenticity and excellence of its original construction. The manoeuvring performance during the regattas is also remarkable, as evidenced by the successive victories of seven of the eight California 32s at the prestigious "Sir Thomas Lipton Cup" regattas organized by the San Diego Yacht Club from 1948 to 1964.

The California 32 has a square with two straight benches facing each other, a central table with varnished wood lids, storage units, a kitchen equipped with a gas cooker, a refrigerator and a sink, as well as cupboards. There are also toilet compartments with a pump toilet and sink.

Apart from periodic renewal and compliance interventions, the boat is in its original configuration, which makes it even more authentic and unique. In short, the California 32 is a legendary sailboat, which combines aesthetics and high-level performance.
