The beginnings of Fjord Shipyard – the creation of a prestigious brand
Fjord Shipyard has specialized in building motorboats in Arendal, Norway, since the 1950s.
During the 1960s, Fjord employed over 700 people. At that time, the brand outperformed all European shipyards specializing in the manufacture of motorboats.
In addition, the company also expanded its offering with the production of a motor sailboat called the MS 33, between 1971 and 1979.
In the late 1970s, Fjord launched the 28′ Fjord Terne, which quickly became the shipyard’s flagship product. Notably, the great success of the Fjord Terne 28′, reinforced Fjord’s positioning as a prestige brand.
The successful collaboration between FJORD and HanseYachts: how it led to the creation of iconic models
Since 2007, Fjord has been part of Hanse Yachts AG, which also owns the Sealine, Privilege, Moody and Dehler brands.
Their collaboration quickly led to the creation of the Fjord 40 Open, an innovative model in the 40-foot category, a 12-meter boat with a remarkable design that can reach speeds of up to 40 knots.
In 2011, the Fjord 36 Open was launched, continuing the line of the Fjord 40 Open.
At Boot Düsseldorf 2015, FJORD unveiled its flagship, the Fjord 48 Open. This boat is remarkable not only for its accommodations, but also for its impressive motorization of up to 3 x Volvo Penta IPS 600.
At the Cannes Yachting Festival 2017, the shipyard presented the brand’s very first outboard model – the Fjord 36 Xpress. Thanks to its 2 x 350 hp engine, this boat can exceed 45 knots.
