The founding of the Catana shipyard
The Catana shipyard was founded in 1984 by Olivier Poncin, a sailing enthusiast who decided to start building high performance catamarans. The first boats were built in Canet-en-Roussillon, in the Pyrenees-Orientales region of France.
The Catana shipyard is renowned for its constant pursuit of innovation, with advanced designs and state-of-the-art technology, as well as for the quality of its materials and construction. Catana catamarans are designed to offer great stability, high speed and comfort on board.
The first boats built by Catana were the Catana 42 and 48, which were very popular with sailing enthusiasts for their performance and comfort. Since then, the shipyard has continued to develop its range of catamarans, now offering models ranging from 42 to 70 feet in length.
The development of the shipyard
In the 2000’s, Catana experienced a significant development by expanding its range of catamarans and by establishing itself in other countries.
In 2002, Catana launched a new high-end cruising catamaran: the Catana 50. And indeed, this model was very well received by sailing enthusiasts. As a result, the shipyard continued to develop its range by launching larger models, such as the Catana 55 and the Catana 58.
In 2008, Catana opened a new production facility in Canet-en-Roussillon. With this, the shipyard increases its production capacity to meet the growing demand for its catamarans.
At the same time, Catana began to expand into other countries, notably by opening a subsidiary in the United States in 2006 and a new production site in Tunisia in 2007.
Finally, in 2014, the shipyard’s founder and CEO created the Bali brand as a separate and complementary brand to Catana.

The Catana shipyard has launched several new models in recent years to expand its range of catamarans. Here are some examples:
